PARISH INFORMATION + HISTORY

Our History

St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Parish was established on April 30, 1962, when Fr. Joseph O. Scheer, then pastor of Holy Angels Parish in Kinloch, received a letter from Archbishop Ritter instructing him to establish a new parish on nine undeveloped acres in the Mattese area.

The patronage of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque was granted to the new parish at the request of Herb and Agnes Faust, the prior owners of the land. Through St. Margaret Mary’s intercession and by the grace of Jesus’ Most Sacred Heart, 125 families and a huge sinkhole were transformed into the home of a faith community, dedicated in the spirit of “family.”

Our neighborhood parish is now home to more than 2300 families. We are an anchor in the Southern Vicariate, and we look forward to serving this region with a strong core community for many years to come. With gratitude and affection, we celebrate our 62nd anniversary this year (2024).
